‘Adventures in Bodiwell’ is a series of children’s picture books on mental, physical, and nutritional health. Informative, colourful, and fun, the books take a unique approach to health literacy. The adventures begin when healthy characters, like Harriet Heart and Karl Kidney from Bodiwell, come up against their unhealthy neighbours from Sickville.  As part of the series, ‘Adventures in Mind-Bodiwell,’ explores and aims to help children manage their mental health and well-being.

A message from the Authors

“A healthy lifestyle is best established from an early age. In creating Bodiwell and its opponents from Sickville, we hope to encourage children to eat healthily and to be physically active.”

Joan Blaney.

“The children enjoyed the story and would definitely like more of them as we don’t do it very often in year 6. They liked the poem at the end and said it would be good for KS1 children to learn it – they liked it so much, they want it recited to the entire school.”

Mrs K Batchelor, Teacher, Wodensfield Primary School, Wolverhampton.

“We are facing an obesity and mental health epidemic and need to act now by educating our kids. I’m committed to improving mental health literacy to help children better understand and communicate mental health difficulties.
